SAY YES TO HUMILITY AND SAVE HUMANITY (2 Chronicles 7:14 & Luke 1:38) (Phase 1)

It is well established in our hearts how important the virtue of humility is, how it is highly needed in the society and how it is valued by God. We know that we need it, but we do not expect it to be acquired so easily. We need God’s grace and sincere disposition for us to have it.

Humility and humanity are two different words but similar in nature.  The words “humility” and “human” have one root word  ‘Humus’ which is the Latin word for earth (a rich and nutrient filled soil). Humility is derived from ‘Humilitas’ a Latin word which means ‘one who is grounded or near to the earth’

You may be wondering how saying yes to humility will save humanity, knowing how humans have destroyed the quality of living as a group and human conditions and nature. My opinion is; if we all can say yes to humility in an un-stabilized and unmovable world like ours today, that could be a way forward.

Humility, seem to confuse many mindset because it is often misunderstood and taken as self contempt or disdain. However, being humble doesn’t mean to despise oneself. Self contempt, on the other hand, being the act of considering oneself as inferior is a disease of self esteem and humility is its health. A humble person can still be confident. Humility is not about hiding what you can do, or hating who you are because of your weaknesses. It is the joy of thinking about yourself less but not thinking less of yourself (note the difference here). It is being honest about who and what you really are – your strengths and weaknesses, not making it more or less than it really is. Since humanity is seen as humankind; human being as a group; human condition or nature, does is it really matter to be humble in order to build humanity?

Indeed, to make better the quality and condition of humanity, we need a virtue like humility. Humility helps us become like God in the love and service of humanity. It makes us ready always to serve and love others. Therefore, in a selfish manipulated world we are living in today, the mother virtue could play an important role.

  1. Good evening, sister. Firstly, the title is wrong. It should be “SAY YES TO HUMILITY AND SAVE HUMANITY”. You typed “HAMANITY” instead of “HUMANITY”. Secondly, this really made sense to me:

“Humility helps us become like God in the love and service of humanity. It makes us ready always to serve and love others.” Thank you very much.

  2. Good one there. Humility is truth, humbility is falsehood.
