IS GOD UNJUST?

It happened that those in Hell murmured against God, saying that God was unjust by sending them to the torments of Hell. God, even though He owed no one any explanation for His actions, decided to prove his justice to them. Thus, He announced to those in hell that He will give them another chance to prove their worthiness of the Kingdom.

God, then, decided to hold a great feast for them. He commanded the angels to prepare a mighty pot, containing hot and freshly prepared porridge which they placed in the middle of the Hall for the celebration. Each of the condemned was given a spoon with a long handle, in other to get to the mighty pot in the middle of the Hall. God, now, instructed them to eat and make merry because it has been long since they feasted. They were instructed to do this from where they are seated.

Nevertheless, here came the drama. Each of them hastened to get a share of the food before it finishes. However, the length of the spoon made it difficult for them to put the food into their mouths. So, as one is struggling to put the hot porridge into his mouth, it will pour on another. This caused a great quarrel among them and they began to fight each other. God, then, decided to show them his justice by throwing the same kind of feast for the citizens of Heaven.

When the citizens of Heaven arrived, God gave them the same instructions and gave them the same type of spoon. Before they began to eat, they first sang praises to God who gave them the food which they are about to eat. After singing they sat down to eat. But each man didn’t think of himself but the other. Thus, St. Theresa will stretch out her spoon and collect some porridge but instead of eating, she will call out to St. Paul and give him some porridge from her spoon and thus did all the saints. With this attitude, there was much joy and peace, and all ate and was satisfied.

God turned to the condemned that was murmuring against him and asked them, Am I unjust? Can you not see with your own eyes? Love conquers all things. Love alone would have led you into the Kingdom.

Moral Lesson:

AND JESUS SAID “GREATER LOVE NO MAN HAS THAN TO LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS” (JOHN 15:13) AND THUS “I GIVE YOU A NEW COMMANDMENT; LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU” (JOHN 13:34). CONSEQUENTLY, “NO ONE SHOULD SEEK THEIR OWN GOOD BUT THE GOOD OF OTHER” (1 COR. 10:24) “FOR WHERE YOU HAVE ENVY AND SELFISH AMBITION, THERE YOU FIND DISORDER AND EVERY EVIL PRACTICE” (JAMES 3:16)
