The Love that Mother's bear towards their children is so strong that mothers, typically, can do anything to see the child happy. So it happened that there is a boy named Collins. A boy of about 12 and the only child of the parents. He is used to enjoying the enormous generosity of the mother. He is of such confidence that he can get anything he wants from the mother because of the past experiences and the level of love which the mother shows him.
On a fateful day, Collins' mother came back from work with two wrapped items. One seemed, perhaps, more enticing to Collins because of the wrapping and he begged the mother to give it to him but the mother answered, "no son, this is not for you but I have another gift for you." Collins insisted, "but mum, I don't like the one you are giving me, I want this one". The mother handed over to him the gift which she bought for him and added, "listen my sweetheart, I am your mother and I know what is best for you". Collins collected the present but grudgingly. On his way to his room, he said to himself, "mum is too stingy, she doesn't love me as she always claim to, in fact, I hate her." On getting to his room, he noticed that the gift contained a Play Station Portable (PSP), a gift he has been asking the mother for. Overwhelmed with joy, he ran back to the sitting room, only to see the wrap of the other gift on the floor and to his greatest surprise, the other gift which he so much longed for was the Father's medicine which the mother has wrapped thus in other to please the Father and make him feel loved. Collins, feeling contrite, apologized to the Mother, weeping and confessing his faults.
The Mother then told him, my son Collins, what happened to you now is what, sometimes, happen in our relationship with God. We want something and we pray for it but we should bear in mind that God will only give us what is good for us. He loves us more than we love ourselves and at the same time, He knows the future. Will He give us something that He knows will harm us - I think the answer is no. Prayer should dispose us to accept God's will for us and not the other way round. More so, we shouldn't envy the good of others because sometimes, we know only the pros and not the cons.
Allow God to shape you into what He wants you to be.
