The Long Awaited

 8th of September

Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary" ( Matt 1:1-16, 18-23).

“That which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit”.

“The Long Awaited.”

After The fall of the first man Adam, of which the first woman Eve was instrumental (according to creation story) by Her sharing the forbidden fruit she plucked from the tree of knowledge of life and death (Gen:2:15)  as deceived by  the serpent (Gen 3: 1-4) with Adam, which  dammed humanity to  death, God planned in the Fullness of  time to restore all things in “Christ the new Adam" necessarily on  a forbidden tree “the cross". Forbidden because it brought damnation and shameful death to whoever it was conferred on as a result of a grievous atrocity.

Everything was to change at the dawning of a new Era .Christ by his death was to redeem mankind which was dammed in Adam, and by accepting to die on the forbidden and dreaded tree of the “cross" He would change it to a symbol of salvation and of life. Thus, defeating the old serpent forever on a tree , same tree he used to deceive mankind. Notably,  the serpent didn’t directly approach Adam, He went through the woman “eve”, and instilled in her the desire to be like God in knowledge and other things (pride), which she could only achieve by eating the fruit. Hence it was necessary that God in Christ should come to save mankind through a woman , a new Eve. For this Mission, He chose Mary, and immaculately  preserved her in her mother’s womb. From the fall, Creation waited for the birth of this woman, which would bring a glimpse of hope that God will (soon) be with us( Hope for the Emmanuel),Time was not left out in the wait, Because the Emmanuel will bring Time to its Fullness . Isaiah spoke of her ( Mary) to king Ahaz ( Isaiah 7:14) and Israel waited for the messiah and consequently for she who would bear Him. Hence the Genealogy From Abraham to Christ, portraying the Generations that waited God's faithfulness in keeping his promises.

Then she was born, the humblest of God’s creatures, You can imagine how creation rejoiced because at last, she who would bring forth the saviour of the world has come. She crushed the serpent’s head, who couldn’t stand her humility and when the time was right she conceived by the power of the Holy spirit and brought forth God the son who took flesh in her, in other that He might save mankind.

Born today is she who is blessed among blessed among women, Happy Birthday mother Mary, the cause of our joy.

OLIVIA MARY, OP.
